Storytelling

I am currently at the Parliament of World Religions in Toronto…

My luggage however was on a different trip, since Wednesday

Thus I have been sans paper, ink and brushes..

But what was lost has now been found!

The earth is indeed round!

And soon paint and ink will abound

But until then…

I offer a this story of two mice instead – told two weeks ago.

Dead snake

There was a snake in the road ahead,

He or she was really truly dead.

I drove by and began to cry.

I remember

A road trip as a kid,

The car ran over a snake, it did!

I screamed but was told,

Not to worry,

The snake would be fine,

It was round and would just roll with the tires,

And not get hurt.

And as I looked back,

I saw it move,

It moved as I looked back, it did

so I believed him,

And he asked,

“Have you seen lots of dead snakes in roads?”

And I had to admit I had not…

“See,” he said, as if the experience of a six year old was expansive,

“I am telling the truth.”

But he was lying,

To stop me from crying.

And it did.

For a while.

Until today.

Now I cry grown woman tears for snakes and fears.

.

Telling the truth is important,

but it is also important to listen to the truth.

seek the truth,

share it.

Do not let your true self get run over.

Vigils

A flutter by my feet,

And floosh –

A little yellow bird flew out from under the table

Up into the blue blue sky

Like a Kaddish prayer,

A psalm,

A possibility.

Agility trials and tribulations

The spaniel stopped.

The spaniel sat

Unsure of where the path ahead was….

.

Her human clapped her hands and waved

attempting in vain

To show Her the way.

Still

She sat.

.

Suddenly

She cocked her head and knew just where to go!

.

Sometimes

No matter what others may say,

If you can not see a path over the obstacles in your way,

If can not find the path forward,

The best course

Is to take a moment,

A Contemplation,

And soon a way will be shown to you…

Then,

Then!

You jump.

Caws and effect

The crow stood on the iron rail of the cupola

Cawing loudly at the costumed kids,

As I carried a large pumpkin in my arms.

I wonder about the mise en scene of the world.

.

The veil is Growing thin,

Do the crows call the ancestors in,

Or simply herald their arrival?

Welcome all,

Welcome here,

Welcome now.

Walking

You may see

By the side of the road

a person walking a dog.

Look again.

By the side of the road is a person and a dog

Traveling together.

Flock

Flock together,

Fly towards hope.

Even if it means going in a different direction than you had planned.

Even if it means you don’t know the destination.

Trust you were given wings for a reason –

Fly.

Mooning

Reach for the moon!

Dream in the silver light.

.

But…

Seeking the moon is only reaching for reflected light,

Do not be distracted!

Bathing in the moonlight is also

Baptizing yourself with the sun…

The universe is round…

Reflect light back to all you see.

It is the gift of life.

Veils and tails

The veil grows thin,

I step into

A harvest of happy souls

As tangible as breath,

Purring the past into the present,

Padding into my heart.
