some days we all get a little ruffled
even if we are doves.
I look out the window,
and i want to go out;
I look in the window,
and i want to come in.
I want to be with you wherever you are!
(but i forget that You are wherever I am)
Clean laundry –
out of the dryer,
there is too much rain for the line
and there is too little sun at night.
Is it still clean if you are taking a nap on it?
Come take a nap too,
we can iron out the wrinkles in our lives later.
How did I get here?
Does that matter?
It will not help you find your way back –
for
You are always here.
Driving down the highway,
the radio tells me its the end of summer.
But as I look in front of me,
I see it is only the beginning
of a new adventure.
in a parking lot
a dog
parked,
lying, waiting
trusting
the world will be made whole again.
A door opens,
a person enters
(or some would say exits)
and
the earth turns again.
Every cliche was true once,
(ask any kitten)
We wind and unwind; we chase and pounce and play.
And so it is with our daily practices –
Once fresh and filled with joy, they become the old toy
or worse the sanctified cliche.
Be mindful of sacred play-
for it is dangerous if unattended with love.
but equally essential for our evolution.
