Inflate

The sun shone bright over the

skins of holiday spirits

flowing over the neighbors lawn.

Rubber idols who only come to life in the dark,

When lights are lit to outline the roof peaks and the trees.

I feel like these friendly deflated fools,

My skin draped across the lawn of my body in puddles and folds…

Having released a hundred pounds,

I am still heavy yet oddly ungrounded…

What a force is gravity!

Then an orange cat appears in the middle of it all,

Glowing in the light of the daytime star…

“Silly woman!, ” He purrs,

Arise and inflate your soul!

You are a holiday spirit.”

Show your Self in the light of day!
