Transitions

In a drawer

In a basket of white gloves,

Once used to handle

Precious. Art.

(the kind of art that has Meaning….

But for the most part is simply ugly-

Not the kind of honest ugly that Wakes you UP,

But the kind that is filled with the

“Importance of being Art ”

Yet upon occasion they did caressed the real deal…)

Now, no longer of use to archivist or master printer,

They became a bower for a mouse…

Now a shroud…

All that remains are stains and scat and a tiny body.
Such is the way with us as well,
Thus with tender care,

I give the carcass…what was left after bugs had had their fill

To the fir trees.
Now,

What to do with the gloves?

Release the memory of past wounds and touches.

All is forgiven,

Only the stains remain.

Mine

The guinea hen puffed up and hunkered down,

To be very clear,

The pumpkin patch was hers.

The bright yellow blossoms argued mightily,

For they knew that without them, there would be no pumpkins.

The dog took no notice of the dispute,

And simply tilted his head,

And lifted his leg on the apple tree.

Fog

A bright fog surrounds me,

Muffling calls of geese and gull,

All I hear/here is You.

Looking

He looked out over the harbor,

Perhaps wondering when his ship was coming in,

Unaware it already had.

Wisdom

On a scrap of hand made paper,

Embossed with a remnant of a hand made doily,

I record the feathers of the day:

A goose quite loud, and very proud…strutted around for all to see,

While from the woods, shielded in shade a hoot was heard.

Both had their say –

Be whoooo ever you are,

However you are,

Wherever you are.

You can not be me, but neither can I be you.

Love is everywhere

The dog lies beside me while I meditate,

The dog lies beside me in the church,

The dog lies beside me while I paint,

The dog always tells the truth.

Joy

What is better than having one little girl take you for a walk?

Having two little girls take you for a walk!

But what is the best?

Being able to go for a walk…

Pet pee-ves

So I have a quandary,

Or perhaps A Rant:

My dog and I are traveling,

Driving down interstates,

States, by states..

But when we stop to pee, he can not accompany me…

I can of course go with him to his tree…

But I can not leave him in the car…

The temperature outside is too hot by far…

Thus, I accept my lawless state…

He is not my service dog, he is my friend…

And as any grrrl can tell you…

Friends pee together.

Mud

The soft snore of a sleeping dog,

Upside down, belly exposed and legs akimbo…

So perfectly filled with dreams and trust,

How can I be made at the mud on the sheets.
