Rebuilding

Against the bright blue, the jewel spider wove her new abode,

As the slow work of clean up started.

Weaving our homes together with stories of survival and loss,

We are called to toss out what is no longer of use,

And repair, rebuild, restore…..

But more,

We are called to respect our relationship with the Earth, each other and You,

And act accordingly.

Space

Sometimes you might need to evacuate

So that others can evacuate to the spaces you have left.

.

Be safe, be gentle….

Everyone needs shelter in a storm.

Grace

The chorus of meows from collection of crates,

Has become the occasional solo,

While the local denizens venture out into the common rooms again.

Oh, beautiful One,

Be not upset at the rain,

You are warm and dry,

And love….

OH YES, LOVED!

Girl Scout lessons

“Make new friends, but keeeep the old,

One is silver by the other gold”

As songs from my childhood swirl in my head,

The lessons of my heart are more dear than the dred….

More important than skills of the knot tying and fire building.

We are

Safely evacuated into the arms and open doors of Love,

No matter what winds and rains may blow.

Hope

Finally, sand bags were filled,

Stacked up like little sentries, ready to lay down to protect home and hearth…

But what protects hope?

I don’t know,

Perhaps it is up to all of us…

Today hope

hopped all over the sand bags,

Tiny beings of brilliant green life reminding me of compassion and possibilities.

Focusing on the job

The two therapy dog handlers stood in the parking lot,

Marveling at the enormous…

Fascinated by the very small…

Creature on the crawl-

Snake? Worm? Size is relative to expectations…

As are shapes!

I too though thought lizards had legs…

But not all of them!

.

The two therapy dogs, however, payed no attention…

Only focusing on the reason we were there,

And door they were about to enter.

Fear

Big eyes

Ears at half mast

Shallow breathing….

All the signs of fear…

Frozen safely on the other other side of the chain link,

The barking dog can not reach Her.

Yet the more the dog barks, the more filled with fear she becomes

The more immobilized and panic stricken.

Unaware that She was out of harm’s way.

Look for Joy

There She was,

Pointing the way….

Dancing and prancing…

So filled with Joy

It spilled over into everything…

The world, so filled with sadness…

Was suddenly reminded it was also brimming with Love,

And Peace and Hope.

Blessings of an un-made bed

The calico cat and the tabby did not get along…

They spat nad hissed (and never kissed),

But then, one saw a soft spot in the folds of a quilt,

Not knowing that the other had found comfort in the comforter…

All day they snoozed together……

Not a spit nor a spat

Between them

Only the soft sweetness of an un-made bed.

Alone

Sometimes you think you are all alone….

But really, you are the bright spot in someone’s day!
