Sunshine

A cat the color of sunset sat on a broken an upside down laundry basket,

light filling fur, spinning it into gold…

Oh sweet shy softness,

I know you are wild too…

I will just just sit here and watch You.

Breathing fire

Some days I think I am some sort of dragon lady,

But really I’m not even a dragon baby.

It is so hard not to breathe fire,

Even if you are just a really blue bunny…

Teen dog

When I was a teenager, I had an Afghan Hound named Sadie.

We had matching hair,

That we would flip when asked to do something,

and I covered the margins of my notebooks with composites of us –

If I was a dog, or she was a human.

Old Love is like that, always in the margins of life,

Urging us onward,

Knowing that that amazing ness of belongingness is possible.

Webbed feet

Step out of the muck,

Hold your head high,

Waddle with pride

And aim for sky!
And whether your feet are webbed or soled,

Tell your story on your way,

It needs to be told.
Write it with hope and with love and with care,

For there are others too scared to start traveling there,

And your path may give courage to those still afraid,

So step out of the muck,

Start a parade.

Hope

Oh soft pittie puppy,

whose name in Ancient Greek means both rainbow and messenger,

You leave a trail of hope,

And an arc in my heart, filled with sweetness….

Your salvation from the storm will save many in the harshest weathers of life.

A day

It was as if a petal had simply released itself from the bloom,

And fluttered away.

on a stick, from a tree, now dead,

The resurrection ferns sprang to life after the rain,

Revealing bright green hope.

And the mountain of a gal took a nap under a cat,

And wondered if mountains ever felt so exhausted from all the beauty they hold.

He came in from the soaking rain

And poured Himself against my heart.

Baby sat

Oh happy little nursemaid’s dog,

You had me at hello!

I will be your baby, if only for a little while,

While my inner child is healing.

Rolling and lying

There is a human expression,

Roll over.

As in “he just gave up and rolled over….”

So why do we, when we see the truth before us,

Lie.

Can we not see it?

No, the dog does not want his belly rubbed now,

No, right now, she is no longer chill, nor super relaxed…

No! he is not so well socialized that

He can sleep, even in the middle of the hallway!

They simply

Lie.

They have rolled over.

.

Your entreaties having fallen on deaf ears that claim they can hear…

And those of us listening, are left at a loss for words.

We too having rolled over.

.

I am sorry, please forgive me, I love you.

Thank you for not giving up on me.

Tomorrow let us both learn to stand up together, for each other and for You.

Clean Sweep

I left the broom outside on the porch overnight,

Wet.

when I went to grab it in the morning,

A little green face poked out at me,

And then another….

Tiny elven amphibians awoke one by one.
Once I was told that to sweep is to bless,

And blessings should never be a chore.

Today I was reminded of that…

For I am truly blessed.

As are YOU!

Good morning!
