Toys or Trash

The roofer tossed the plastic water bottle off the the roof and onto the grass.

Trash.

A product designed at every step to destroy the very element it contained.

I have vowed not to sip from this hypocrisy that I find strewn across my yard.

Watching the falling flask

The little white dog dashed in, jumped and scored!

Rolling on her back, prize in her paws,

the cracking sound of her teeth scrunching the plastic , the wagging of her tail,

She was filled with Joy!

Toy.

.

One person’s trash is another’s treasure

May not be actually true,

But perhaps it can be momentarily true.

.

And we both had fun playing with the trash,

Before putting them in the recycling bins.

Flight patterns

Early this morning I see a small white dog rolling on her back in the yard.

Joyously!

Moments later I was washing goose poop off her.

Vigorously.

And as evening fell, flying less than an arm’s length from my heart,

A pair of geese pass me going north.

Gracefully.

At the end of the day, I find myself sitting

Thankfully.

Roofs

The sky is falling,

I can hear it,

Thumping and groaning…

Grinding and cascading down past all the windows …

I will stay under the table and pray….

Hey!

Came a voice from above,

It will be ok.

There will be a new roof soon.

And we can go out into the sun.

Tricks

She can roll a barrel with her front legs;

She can roll a barrel with her hind legs.

She can stand up on top it and roll it around the room.

But that is not her real talent…

That belongs to her skill at stealing hearts.

Neighborhood Watch

Three musketeers,

Masquerading as roosters

Stood on the corner

Doing more gossiping that watching.

Make noise!

I stand on the damp earth,

Listening to the clamor.

.

The rain having stopped for a moment

I look around to see the source of the noise…

And there, high above me,

Was

You!

.

Never forget, no matter how small you are,

Your voice matters,

Call out for what you need.

Call out for Love.

Darkening skies

the skies grew dark,

The rain poured down,

But not everybody wore a frown –

For there was mud

all around!

Torn earth

The cardinal came seeking a perch,

But they had been all torn down.

Nevertheless, He found a place to sit and swing,

And helped me with the forgiveness thing.

I have heard it said,

To be forgiven is to be loved…

But to feel loved,

We must learn to forgive.

Chainsaws and rain

The little orange feral feline

Was hiding in the brush,

Seeking shelter from the coming rain.

Thunder claps, mixed with the sounds of chainsaws taking care of trees now deemed dangerous to life and limb in the coming winds.

And the little orange kitten

Puffed into a big orange cat

And made a dash for a quieter lawns.
