Farewell

I said goodbye to a friend today.

His name was Sam,

And he was larger than life,

A bear of a dog,

Gentle and fierce…

He protected his family’s heart through the many transitions of life,

And he continues to do so,

Although his bark now is only heard by angels.

.

We love.

part of the consequences of loving well, and loving deeply, are joy and suffering.

But the suffering, no matter how sharp the pain in the moment,

Is nothing compared to the Joy.

So…

Grieve.

Howl.

Clean your soul til is sparkles…

And in time the

Joy will return.

It all ways does.

.

And the whole world is a little better than it was before Your Love.

Agile

When life presents you with a tunnel of darkness,

Sometimes the only thing to do is

step in

Trust there will be light at the end…

Grace filled with agile steps,

there

is always SomeOne there

to guide

You.

Camouflage

As I child I was taught to ‘hide in plain sight”

These days I think it more important that we all learn to see.

Think outside the box

The moment the pizza box was delivered,

The cat leapt upon it,

Purring as She settled down for a short nap.

.

Some of us want what’s in the box,

Others simply want to curl up in the radiating warmth of the contents.

Memories

Memories stir of friendships long ago.

But the lessons remain….

Listen without judgement.

Picking up

When things fall apart,

Remember,

There are always those who will help you pick up the pieces.

Guardians

There was once a boy,

Whose arrival into this world was heralded by a chorus of amphibians.

I thought he was the Frog Prince,

For to me he was royalty, and besides,

He loved to dress in green…

(but in truth, that may have had more to do with Peter Pan and Robin Hood

Than anyone aquatic.)

The boy became man,

As happens, if stars align and food is plentiful.

And today,

I learned, as He rescued a series of tiny green tree frogs

That had taken up residence on my minivan,

That he was not the Frog Prince.

For princes, no matter how benign,

Require the allegiance of their subjects…

And He had no such arrangements with the frogs…

Theirs was a relationship of mutual guardianship.

.

We all have to look out for one another.

Nature vs Nurture

Whoever you live with shapes you..

Whatever environment you live in

Impacts you…

Is it nature or nurture?

The answer is always,

Both.

.

Nature and nurture.

.

So what nature do you nurture?

.

Who do

You

live with?
