sometimes we must look down
to see angels.
Pause on the painting.
stop
for a moment.
this
is
Now –
there are paws on the paper!
how can I paint
when there are purrs to be pet?
You have a mindful practice you do every day?
purrs rumble as if to chortle –
purrs puddle around the paper giggling –
Mind the moments.
One day you too will be old
and you will still want a home
and you will still want love.
they may say the elderly have questionable judgement – but if i were you-
i’d start questioning now –
and I will love you.
Even though some days,
it feels like
all you do is
NOTHING
but chase your own tail
just remember,
it is all part of the balance of being.
even when we don’t realize it at the time.
(or when we paint it,
and later, scan it sideways)
Today a golden fly
landed on my arm.
She traveled with me thru the day and did me no harm.
no bite,
no sting,
a beautiful thing
she shimmered like the sun-
Are you a fly from times gone by-
to remind me of Ethaun?
Oh! Be not weary of this world –
For it is the world of your making –
make beauty and joy
for you are loved.
If what you see is a fly – marvel
If you only see a fly – pray for better sight.
in daze of old, so i’m told,
to have a care was to worry – but these days
Mistake not care for worry –
Worry not!
Curiosity did not kill a cat
even if satisfaction brought him back –
inquire and play –
hide and seek
with care
and carefully You too will be found.
so close
the wind from your wing
fanned my face
and took my breath away
who are You?
oh who could doubt that you are a holy spirit?
breathe deep, this too is reality.
I am not a crow
but we are all related – didn’t you know?
Passerines pass me by –
on a branch or in the sky they cry
WE ARE ALL RELATED.
i call my directions and remember all my relations.
The air is filled with wind and wings.
i stand compassed by awe.
somedays the world seems so very big. and i seem so very small.
