High above my head
On a leaf of a sunflower
Sits a small green king
Surveying all that is good, true, and beautiful.
I bow like the yellow petaled crown,
Surrendering to You.
I walk the dog on the sidewalk suburban
While an owl hoots from the tree
Reminding me than if I simply cross one block over,
I will be in the wild.
Yet even there
I am tethered to You.
The cows in the fields were ebony black
And chocolate brown
They stood on slips of bright green pastures
On edges of mountains
Under the bluest of blue skies…
I was mesmerized
The air was sooo sweet!
Better than candy.
The dog had had a very hard life,
In many homes,
And broken bones,
Yet here she was,
Mending broken hearts by simply asking…
.
Ask for what you want,
Someone needs to be able to give it.
As I strolled beside the river
I saw a nest on the dive board of a boat…
Half tucked under a tarp that had not been moved for quite some time
It reflected golden in the morning light..
While two ducks swam lazily by in the sun.
Make nests.
Fill them with light.
