Sticks and stones

She brings me sticks and stones,

But never, ever has She called me names that hurt me.

You may think they are simply nursery rhymes

Or wishes upon stars

But they are prayers

And prayers get answered in the most surprising ways.

Like sticks dropped at your feet,

Like the blessing of bright eyes looking up,

Like the grace of Love.

Stride

Across the paddock

She arrived

Taking everything in stride.

.

Lessons on the hoof.

Choir

Join the chorus,

The studies tell us

Those who sing

Are happier…

Those who sing with others

Are happier still….

After the rain

I stepped outside

And joined the choir.

It is not the key you sing in, it is the joy you find in singing that is the key.

Tangled and smooth

She sauntered in through the front door

Like she used to do before

The collie came.

She curled up side down in a pile of mending,

A relaxed tangle of legs and paws

And I thought I heard the house audibly purr.

Change is a constant,

Adjusting takes some time…

Bat #@&$ crazy

Dawn

The leaves on one side of the sunflowers are all wilted

Hanging like bats in a row

In the bright sun….

While a solitary flower booms in the cave of my heart.

Dusk

The sky fills with mammalian wings

Beating a staccato rhythm

Against the darkening blue

Above

Below

All is You.

Help, I can’t see

She was a tangled mess

Of hitch hiker seeds and Spanish needles

Her bangs completely knotted over her eyes

She sat before me

Her little face upturned toward mine…

Please help?

….

Of course!

….

We all have trouble seeing sometimes

It’s okay to ask for help

When you need the planks in your eyes removed.

But judge not the specks of sawdust or seeds the the eyes of your friends.

Thank You

The best dog,

Oh they are all are they not,

Comes chin on lap,

Purpled pom Pom wagging

As he smiles.

Oh poodle!

Thank you for your daily blessings…

.

Have you thanked those who have blessed you, today?

Fall

Kee

Kee kee kee

Above me

In the pecan tree

Looking up

all I could see was the patterns of the leaves against the sky

Looking down

There is a feather on the ground

How similar we are…

Earth and sky

Feather and leaf

Studying Horses

The young horse was walked to the field

Where four horses already stood,

Three in a group

Grazing

And one watching the road.

Or me.

.

The halter on the youth was removed,

A leg kicked out into the new freedom…

And a short gambol followed.

The three grazers

Raised their heads briefly in hello,

And the watcher watched.

.

Soon all of them were standing together,

Heads down into the bright green goodness of this world.
