She sat on the box and looked at me through the fringes of her bangs,
Teaching me more than I had expected.

I learned
The the moon has a smell,
But the air scrubbers on Apollo’s Lunar module’s cabin
Cleared it out before the astronauts got home,
Like scent of firecrackers… I guess you had to be there.
Others tried to sniff the rocks those brave men carried back but to no avail.
No one has ever smelled the moon except those brave astronauts.
Still, I’d bet a fine canine could get a whiff
if someone cast a pebble in their direction…
And they had an alert handler who could read the wind.
