Rain hats

Sometimes,

What you thought was a curse

Turns out to be a blessing.

Golden orbs

The golden orbs swayed in the breeze

As rain gently fell.

A gust of wind and the lemon went sailing.

The border collie jumped as the universe began to play ball,

Catching the yellow sphere in Her teeth….

Bitter

She spat it out,

Only to run after another….as sour as the first.

I go inside and find a more suitable toy.

…….

We all need others to help us out

when life seems to tease us

With Her lessons of Love.

………

Lemons are lovely,

Sun made spheres

That remind us

it is only together

Bringing sweetness to bitterness

That we can truly stand in theLight.

Have a ball

There is NO ball playing in the house!

But every time I turn around there You are,

Ball in muzzle

Grin on face

Wagging from head to tail

Finding orbs in every corner of my home

….

Go on,

Have a ball

Wherever you are.

Flock together

Above my head

Feathers of ebony swirled against a blue blue sky

A community in air

Dancing on the thermals

My Spirit soars

………

Flock together these holy days

Class

The brindle bug

Too leggy for a Boston Pug

Leaps into the hearts of students of all ages,

(Though some of us are called teachers and such).

…………

Some of us don’t belong to one person,

We belong to the world!

Roads

Old dog

Tiny old dog

Dashed under the bumper of my van

Escaping to safety against all odds.

I park

Heart pounding,

Ego straining

I run into the open garage where I saw the terrier run…

“Hello” I call,

Two women knock on the door,

They know the dog lives here…

We call

A man emerges

Having already let the dog inside…

“I almost hit your dog!”

“He never leaves the yard.”

“He did, he ran under my car”

“He never leaves the yard”

“I almost hit him!, please don’t let him out alone”

“I will. I’ll keep letting him out!”

The door slams shut.

…..

Was I more upset that the dog might die,

Or that I might have killed him?

We were right next to an elementary school…

What if the witnesses were children

Or if they were passengers in the fatal car?

Don’t let your dogs out unattended.

……

Pay attention to present truth

Not past stories.

Our responsibilities have ripples in the holy waters of life.

Act accordingly.

Bounce

The border collie kept bouncing her ball,

Dropping it in laps,

Off steps,

Into beds

Until

The little white dog stole it,

Ran into her big sister’s crate with it….

And

Closed the door!

…….

Sometimes

When you have had enough

You just have to take the toys away from the toddlers,

And go away.

….

We all get fed up occasionally,

Be responsible when you do.

Bleeding

Sitting on the floor of the urgent care veterinary clinic

The boy

now man

Sat with his boy

Now old man

……

I never knew

Or maybe I did but never really understood

How you could bleed out

Without anyone knowing

Because it was all inside

But isn’t that the way with every broken heart?

………..

The good news is:

Blood clots

Hearts mend

Medical science is salvatory

And Grace exists in this world.

…..

We may be designed to wear out

But we are also designed to heal

With a little help from our friends.

Dreaming

Dreaming in black and white

Until nothing is left but what is essential.

Hunting the past

Walking the aisles of Home Depot

There is an old man with an old dog

A hunting hound

And his hunter,

Scouting the aisles

For possibilities

And poinsettias

The shadows of boy and puppy hover over them

Like plaid and pine needles

I smile

He frowns

The dog wags.

Bright red flowers tucked under his arm,

They exit into the sun.
