sometimes the best way to relieve stress
when you are being tested
is to stay curious,
trust in your training and education.
and maybe pet a dog.
peace is possible….
look around
you can see it
everywhere –
even if it is only a glimpse…..

but like a tiny seedling that needs nurturing,
first
it has to be seen,
and tended not weeded.

what peace did you see today?
The calico queen looks up at me thru lidded eyes
as she washes her paw.
Pushing my hair out of my eyes,
suddenly i feel very ill kempt.
Some ancient relative’s voice rings in my ear,
“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”
clearly the cat knows that.
Emily tells us that Hope is a thing with wings…
(or at least feathers)
if so, it sings.
(no matter the weather)
it is up to us to listen to the song –
it’s up to us to sing along.
the IV’s are now out,
and She is sleeping peacefully on my chest.
There are all kinds of salvations,
and
all kinds of holy water…
and
there are many angels
in the service of God,
perhaps you are one too.

Sometimes my home is a sanctuary,
Sometimes it is a playground.
One is not more sacred than the other.
(remember that next time you are in a playground, or a sanctuary….
or a home)
a flash of the most brilliant red,
startled me awake –
flitting from the bay laurel into the sweet gum,
from the sweet gum into the oak
flashes of red streamed into my head –
promising blessings
with every streak.
but still i wonder:
would he have seemed so red,
if the sky had not been so blue.

Nothing is simply black or white.

some will tell you the direction ‘up’ is good,
some will tell you the direction ‘down’ is bad…
but how can that possibly be true when
in friendship, the best direction is together….
Just becuz sometimes you can’t see our wings –
doesn’t mean we don’t fly into your heart.
and just becuz we have wings,
doesn’t mean we will ever fly out.
it will all be ok,
honest.
