In the sky of pale blue
A dog came racing thru
And morphed into a horse
To take me for a ride
While the little dog
By my side
Gently snored.

The day turns into night
The year turns into a decade
Some resolve not to be involved
In resolutions
Some labor over lists
Longing to change their lives without consequences
……..
I have only one lesson/teaching/assignment/practice for the coming year,
Given to me by a sister, naturally dressed in black and white…
Greet everything with joy
……..
Practice radical hospitality
In all things
Give
Thanks

Did you know
About round rings of dough?
Golden and sweet
Oh they are neat!
……..
I jumped on the table
In front of everyone
And this really nice lady
Picked me up and gave me one!
She called it a dough nut
But
They were nothing like nuts
They were round and sweet
Like wheel of the year
If you are brave enough to jump on a table
And leap into the arms of
Love.

Who knows what we see
When we see
The unseen?
……..
I saw You,
Your eye
Almost the same height as mine
Yet you could soar so much higher.
……
Was it a You?
Was it really You?

a jump
another
a hiss
a soft growl
Very slowly
they turned their backs to each other
And laid down
Seemingly unaware
they were all on the same table

A pet crate sits open on the counter of the veterinarian’s office.
Endless stories pour out of me
And nestle in my brain
Stories
Of joy
Of grief
Of the possibility of a new family member
Of the loss of an old one
Of a rescue
Of a life saved
Of a life lost
Or maybe it’s just a donation of a crate
But the simple truth is
There is an open crate sitting on the counter.
And really, every moment is like that.

She sat at the edge of the world,
Or maybe it was just the bed,
And with a slight turn of her head
Changed the axis of understanding .
Who really knows
Why
The earth turns round the sun?
Or why we Love
But it does and we do.
Love.

In the morning light
A song rises on the dew,
I look into the naked branches
And I see You.
Thank you.
