Oh, Snap!

Once upon a time

It was the most expensive leash I ever bought

Custom

Two brass rings!

Could turn into a kennel rope in seconds

Or walk a dog down a country lane.

Today,

It saved my wrist.

While sitting in the sun sipping tea

Border collie beside me,

Leashed in a cone of healing, Bored of the ennui…

Suddenly, She bolts.

Full speed

She tears after a cat who had jumped the fence.

Snap.

The dog gratefully in a fence in yard.

The cat safety back over the fence.

The handle dangling from my arm

And only bright red marks on my wrist.

You never know what Grace may look like,

Or how somedays you might just grab that brass ring.
