Howl

It is day break

But no rooster crows,

Instead I hear a sound new to the music of the morning waking up,

But not a happy one…

a dog is calling, crying…

My dog answers…

And I follow the response.

but no lost dog I find,

there two yards over in a brand new pen of fresh lumber and hog fencing

With a brand new dog house and a shiny new water bowl

Sits a golden colored trumpet of sadness.

No matter how beautiful you may build a prison,

None of us deserve to be alone behind fences,

Separated from our family.
