Shop Dog

We opened the door.

The counter in front of us shook as two barking dogs hit it with full force.

The counter was too High to see them,

But the energy of their greetings was overwhelming…

Shut up yelled the owner as he emerged from the back,

The barking continued

Shut up before I throw something at you

The barking dogs backed away from the counter into my eye line.

I smiled.

They looked warily at us.

Then one gently jumped up and placed his paws on the edge of the counter,

His tail softly wagging.

Hello I said.

The shop keep told him to get down before he hit him.

.

Yesterday I walked a Dog who wanted to be a kite,

Today I met one who longed to fly.
