why the dog bows

dog play-joy

Once upon time my ancestors lived in trees,

Once upon a time my ancestors lived in dens,

But I came out of the trees,

And I came out of the dens,

And we saw each other

and i was curious,

and i was curious

and I was scared…

and I was scared

For you had big teeth –

And you had big sticks!

And I saw all your teeth…

And I saw you hold your big stick …

and we ran away from each other, again…

and went to sleep –

and while we slept, we dreamed

and in our dream, you were throwing the stick,

and in our dream, you were chasing the stick,

and in our dream I was picking up your stick,

and in our dream I was throwing your stick…

and in our dream we played like brothers,

and in our dream we played like sisters,

and in our dream we played like friends –

and we saw it was true…

so when I awoke, I came back to You…

and I put my stick on the ground and smiled with my teeth that had no points, bowing

and I put my chest on the ground so you could see my wagging tail…bowing

at the end of the world,

a dog chases sticks,

and brings them back,

every single time.

We Bow.

And the world is saved, again.

Namaste.
