Fill up

At the gas station.

An ancient chihuahua peers at me over the edge of an open window,

Eyes full of love.

The equally ancient man is filling up his

Almost equally ancient car…

Looking back at the dog, his eyes fill with love.

.

“She likes people” He says.

I screw the cap back onto my gas tank and cross over to them.

the little dog wags her tail,

and cranes her neck to reach my hand. I move closer.

“She’s lovely.” I say.

He beams like his headlights.

And we all get back into our cars a drive our separate routes home.

.

All of us a need a rest stop every now and then on this road we call life.

.

May you find ancient wisdom.

May it be filled with love.
