She howled,
baying at the sun,
as she came running out of the swamp…
the indentations of where a collar had been
seen clearly around her neck.
dashing past me,
seeking searching frantically
for what —
for whom?
She took no mind of me,
and was quick to slip out of loop and leash
and then
we corralled her into the fenced area..
and i relaxed.
She was safe.
All was secure.
We would find her home.
.
or a new one.
.
then She scaled the fence…
and kept on running.
was She running to or from?
.
Fences can not keep us safe nor can they keep us free.
i pray she is safe
wherever She is.
