the last passenger of my mother’s little red car

was a feral calico

who purred her way onto a lap

and into a heart.

The car took her last trip today….

my mother’s last ride on this earth was several years ago…

yet i remember the adventure well.

She knew that all is patchwork and trust,

release and travel onward.

The calico hopped out, purring.

She knew too.
