there She was,
surrounded by kids petting Her, a band playing and kettle corn everywhere –
She stood welcoming all – listening with open ears –
the once soft petals of flesh and fur cut off by a previous cruel human,
looking for a home,
again.
A home where she will not be bred again and again and again….
A home where she will not have more scars added to her face,
A home that understands she has never learned to walk with grace on a leash,
A home that understands she can not live with cats and small dogs and squirrels….
because no one taught her how to channel her gifts of chase and speed
when she was a young grrrl
A home that knows she is no longer a puppy, but that she has many years of love left…
a home in someone’s heart forever…..
because with all She has been through –
there She was smiling and loving
again and again.
