cat or snake?

in the center of the road!

my heart skips a beat…

a large soft grey cat?

dead?

the car slows,

i breathe…

spanish moss cat

the headlights shine on my folly –

Spanish moss is cuddling the concrete.

no purrs ever came from hence.

is this so different from the story of the snake and the rope?

an essential story to be sure –

both Hindu and Buddhist claim it –

as do many teachers of mindfulness.

perhaps you know it too? or for you, was it was a stick in the path or a root –

illusion is illusion?

but here is a difference….

why are we scared of the snake?

why are we scared it was a cat?

and yet, illusion is still illusion.
