in the grass

are you alive?

you are so still –

how is it so difficult to tell

life from death?

a frozen moment –

my footfall failed

toes in midair,

i see You there.

glass snake in grass

you are no snake in the grass –

a lizard of glass.

life is transparently held like breath

on the inhale.

I blink, you are gone.

time and breath unfrozen on an exhale.
