The guy in the white pickup truck waited
For his coffee,
Arm resting on the ledge of the open window,
The dog in the back,
Head out,
Arm in matching position.
We teach by modeling,
What do you model for the world?

He was huge!
And he just a puppy boy who needs a home…
When he was smaller, he had a had one,
But he grew,
And his home did not…
But soon,
He will have a new one
that hopefully will grow with him…
.
Won’t that be huge!

She didn’t simply leap,
She bounced,
And
She leapt again and again…
And She kept
Leaping.
.
Take flight,
Land
Take flight again!

Frost kitten grew up,
Into a frost cat
Who sat
high upon the Sweetgum tree,
Glittering for All to see,
She has no fear of cold.
Be brave in all you do!
.

And then there are those moments
when the best thing is to flop down in the center of the room
And purr.

We went back to the shelter today,
And she shook for the first time since i began to foster her…
She clung to me and flicked her tongue.
she did could not know I was filling out the paperwork of commitment, not relinquishment…
.
(It is a lovely shelter, filled with nice caring people…)
(But also filled with critters who need homes)
.
And she was stressed, even as I was elated.
How do we know we belong?
How do we know when we are home?
But OH the joy when she found she was back at the house with the Big Dog and the Little Dog!
And perhaps, also, with me.
We are home when we know we are wanted.
We are home when we know we are loved.
Yeah I adopted a dog today, makes me kind sappy…. love is like that.

Today’s lesson from a puppy:
After you have run through the mud,
Don’t t forget to stop and smell the flowers…
Or eat them!

Happy growly sounds fill the air,
Mouths open in joyful play.
.
Friendship is a contagious thing…
.
Good friends can be found all around,
And sometimes, if your lucky,
They can become your family too.

She
came to book club
(Masquerading as a calico cat),
even though she had no interest in reading words,
Only reading hearts and
sipping chowder.
Her body language was poetic, clear and insistent.
Food.
Love.
These are all that matter.
