I, too, like shiny objects.
Like the sun and the moon
and the
stars
in your eyes.
I saw three geese flying south today.
But we are already in the south –
You’re going in the wrong direction!
Really? Says who?
Directions?
We carry our maps inside.
Don’t you?
(hidden, unbidden, between work and lunchtime)
on a hunch I tap my hood
and
stood
as I watched your ancient body
creak it’s way out from under
metal and wheel
and gaze at me from the shrubbery.
I blink and you are gone.
Thank you for keeping me mindful.
I am grateful you are here.
The earth is round,
the possibilities are endless.
But her orbit is elliptical,
like an egg, perhaps?
What will hatch next?
Wonders never cease.
Whatever you call me,
is only what you call me.
I have other names as well.
Beautiful, mysterious names
filled with starstuffs and oranges
and love.
