Chewing

Somedays there is just so much to chew.

poodle & bone

Choose your chews wisely.

Some will exhaust you, some will nourish you

and some will just wear your teeth down.

Mindful Help

Today, I was rushing to the plum tree –

as if I hadn’t enough time

to catch it bloom –

as if

it was going to run away –

and a black snake

more mindful of my footfall than was I

briefly

wrapped around my clog –

thus avoiding being trod upon.

I screamed, he swiftly slid away.

And I and my world slowed down

to marvel at the mystery

of the moment.

snake help

We are safe.

Let us be mindful of our steps.

Tree cleaning

The tree of life is messy.

racoons eating loquats

Luckily, there are masked super heroes to clean up.

(Thank everyone!  you never know whose a hero,

maybe it’s You!)

trees & frogs

The tree of life is a flutter

yet again

today.

cedar waxwing loquat 1

Cedar waxwings

eat golden orbs,

Red bellied Woodpeckers with red heads and white bellies

jump into the fray

and chase all but one cedar waxwing away.

Hiding in the green

a strip of gold is seen –

treefrog

a frog on the tree of life

jumps to her salvation.

low hanging fruit

We picked all we could reach –

low hanging fruit

nourishes those who can pick it –

juice running down chins and sticky fingers holding over flowing baskets

our job is done,

we spy more golden orbs framed by the sky

but their sweetness is too high

(did I mention our baskets were full)

but some, bellies full, still hungered for more.

cedar waxwing loquat flock 2

Winged masked bandits, golden soft,

from aloft they wax wing it

to the fruit.

The tree is aflutter, a banquet – a feast

for angels incognito .

We are blessed.

each to the fruit within reach.

Give thanks for the sweetness,

look – your basket is full!

Cloud cover

SeaThe creatures in the sea are not hiding, just hidden from me.

There are days when I am grateful for cloud cover,

for the sky and my eye can cry together.

I am grateful that even tho I am blind to your presence –

You are still swimming in my ocean of love.

in a bottle brush tree of crimson fringe

sing me awake

How can you sleep with such a riot of Love!

Falcon

baby falcons learn to fly

swift messenger of visionary power,

You remind me of my father, but you teach me of the sun.

in flight

over my head

barn owl in flight

startled I feel

wings beat the air onto my shoulders –

perhaps I too can fly….
