i didn’t mean to fall
asleep in a chair,
just a quick cat nap –
my heart hears a purr,
i opened my eyes
but all i see is YOU,
telling me to
listen.
the scent of jasmine and lilies
fills the air –
sweetness in every breath,
a poodle sits expectantly on the sofa,
hoping for a sip of tea
or perhaps to join me in for a cookie?
The smell of spring intoxicate my soul.
an owl woke me up.
i dashed outside to see her –
but all i heard was a woodpecker having breakfast
and i couldn’t see either of them,
for the trees
have
burst
forth
blessings.
oh breathe of life!
i looked down on the floor,
the window is etched onto the tile with light,
beside my chair
a small dog is basking in a square of sun.
his head in the light
his body in the dark.
oh, we are so much the same………
they say that when the student is ready,
the teacher will appear.
but i do not think that is so —
the teacher is always present,
it is i who have to open my eyes
and ears.
