On an overnight bus
through eight states
the same moon over all of them
and a common howl
echoes through the night.
On an overnight bus
through eight states
the same moon over all of them
and a common howl
echoes through the night.
the greenest dragonfly i have ever seen
landed of the greenest heart shaped leaf
and suddenly, i felt overwhelming loved –
so what if i was emptying the trash at the time,
sorting the recyclables
and dumping the orts into the compost-
it is the dailies that we need reminding the most!
the say the heart is green
not with envy
(we create that with our fear)
but like an emerald
sparkling
spinning,
like the transient transendence of a dragonfly’s wing.
love surrounds us
with every beat
of wing or heart.
sometimes the day after
is worse.
for the leftover
sparks and mortars
are never allowed to go fallow.
comfort and compassion
trump any need for distraction.
there is room under the table for two.
i’ll climb in with you.
i wanted to paint a picture of a mama duck with 20 ducklings,
because they made me feel so squee!
but 20 – oh mama –
really?
then a human came to help them across the road.
i can get overwhelmed in the story of life –
reality sometimes comes in for a landing
when i least expect it –
a young eagle
on my car
on the highway.
leaving me humbled,
filled with hope and tears.
we all need help crossing the roads before us.
Quick! Come look!
A magical bug!
ah!
you are transparent and iridescent –
as if You are both transcendence and eminence
reminding us of the many layers we outgrow,
the many shells we shed til we can fly –
reminding us all the while to sing.
the day just wouldn’t seem to start.
neither would the car –
but
with the kindness of strangers –
and some wisdom from a crow –
we all jumped
and away the day flew.
somedays you drive down the road,
and you don’t see what is there.
somedays
you drive down the road,
and you don’t want to see what is there.
and somedays you can’t believe what you see.
none of this changes
what is there.
peace.
we all need to rest in it.
daily.
unexpected guests
sometimes swoop in,
and just as quickly
fly on their way!
bringing surprise and renewed joy .
all are welcome.
