Sabbath: a sacred time of rest.
take tiny sabbaths
daily.
cups.
It is their emptiness that is their usefulness.
(or so we are taught
by great sages.)
especially when
that emptiness is filled with Love.
(which is always useful.
nevertheless, they still need to be washed regularly.)
Never underestimate the power of frolic.
Laughter is the best medicine
when it is filled with Love.
in the morning light,
the promise of pears
appears
blooming the first week of fall,
with a tiny baby green frog nestled in the leaves
and a small anole on a stem.
Hope has no time table.
We all have to look forward,
sometimes we just need a little company to remind us.
while we sit in our present moment.
and re-learn how to wag our tales.

when your hand can’t quite reach –

oh sweet, dish faced poodle.
i could eat a meal of love in your remembered light.
Thank you for jumping rope with a young girl in the dark of night.
wanted to let you know, everything turned out all right.
but You knew that already.
a crane stood at the base of the streetlight,
a crow sat on the top,
a sea gull soared in circles.
and the sun shined on.
we all have a place in the sacred circus of love.
why judge the view of someone else?
you may not be in the position to see what they see.
On one side of the glass is a small lizard.
On one side of the glass is a calico cat.
The lizard scampers across the surface,
A paw traces its every move.
then, all is still.
The Lizard is no longer running.
The cat’s paw lies, as if frozen, on the window pane.
Did the small reptile stop the chase because he knew she could not catch him?
or was he in freeze, believing himself safe because he was not moving?
what you can wade through –
some of us must swim across.
