the conversation turned,
like leaves in fall,
to the arts of canning and preserving…
of jams and butters made from apples –
someone mentioned you can make jelly from beauty-berries…
and suddenly the deep purple orbs were objects of culinary desire and intrigue…
but looking at them glinting in the dappled sun
with the bright red of the bottle brush bush blooming beside the royal hued spheres
against a bright blue sky –
i wondered if there was any need
to remove this beauty from the world and bottle it in a jar.
Just then a bright orange butterfly concurred —
the world needs Her rainbows.
