together we enter the therapy gym,
and my canine partner shines!
greeting all with quiet grace,
finding access in the smallest of spaces.
gently laying his head into the crook of an arm,
or standing next to
a woman who screamed through her sadness and pain
that she was never going to walk again…
regardless of the fact she had just taken two steps.
.
moments later in the hallway
i am reminded how much we all need constant training
and assessment….
i am humbled
as my brilliant dog
could only visit a pocket of food….
.
we all loose ourselves in our shame,
and fail to see what is really happening –
we need to focus
on what really matters.
.
what we focus on may not be what the job requires….
and we all need daily training.
myself as much as my dog.
