the phrase:

“Did you grow up in a barn?”

is usually used to condemn bad manners –

yet, i have met many well mannered individuals

who were indeed raised in a barn…

still,

not all of those raised in barns should be.

what matters is not ‘where were you raised’ –

but

who are you raising up?
